And Sanders. Poor Sanders. So many opportunities, so many stolen moments. So close, but so far from revenge.

And Bastard. What a great horse. Or a crazy one.

This series is just such an easy read. The writing flows well. The world is fascinating. The characters are complex. The plot is intriguing. The humour is hilarious. The whole series is just perfect. ( )

Enjoyable rebellion start, the best parts for me are when the honor guard infiltrate a city. These are the most exciting and varied parts of the book. Very much looking forward to the concluding book in the series. ( )

I need to review this in much more length sometime later (I need to review that whole series of books actually), but just as a self reminder and because people need to know: Sanders is amazing. I love his point of view so much, it makes me crack up every single time. The fact that he starting to get crazy with all the other people's weird-to-his-eyes ways of doing things never ceases to put a smile on my face, as much as his no-nonsense behaviour. The next installment better have his pov as well.

Yeah because this has multiple points of view. I'm so in love with this way of telling stories, you have no idea.
I also love sooooo many characters, for real. I'm always tensed in the battle scenes because I'm afraid of who might die. I can't even name all the characters that would take a part of my heart with them if they died because they are so damn many, and I love them all. The whole Honor Guard (nope, it's not cheating to count all 6 of them as one), Sanders and Rohnan alike. All those women as well, Alena, Maggie and Mela to name a few. And the Shumas. And the Shadows. Damn I knew it would be hard to pick.
And it's fantasy mixed with humour and amazing friendships. It also reflects on our own cultures a lot which gets me thinking and want to keep on reading as long as my schedule lets me.

To sum it up: I love those books. I really do. ( )

Absolutely loved this edition of the continued saga. Great character, plot, & storyline development. The situations the characters find themselves in are nothing short of edge of your seat gripping and nail biting. The verbal bantering is laugh out loud hilarious. This book will hold your attention with witt, battle, friendship, respect, and sensual scenes. I love all of the characters but find that I relate too and hope for more from Sanders. His ferociousness and loyalty know no ends. Highly recommend this series. ( )
