The Vampire Diaries with faeries. Welcome to Rowan... Founded two centuries ago by a powerful tribe of Gottwa Indians, Rowan was a quiet town, so quiet that I fled after graduation. Staying away was the plan, but Mom died suddenly. Dad said she suffered a stroke after she dug up one of the ancient graves in our backyard, which happens to be the town cemetery. Creepy, I know. Creepier still, there was no corpse inside the old coffin, only fresh rose petals. As we made preparations for Mom's burial, new people began arriving in Rowan, unnervingly handsome and odd people. I begged them to leave, but they stayed, because their enemies--my ancestors--were beginning to awaken. Fans of Karen Marie Moning's Fever series will adore Wildenstein's new faerie-tale.… (mehr)

First off I would like to thank Olivia Wildenstein and netgalley for my advanced copy of this MASTERPIECE (pun intended) if you have read any of my reviews you will know that I am the biggest fan of this author, everything she touches is magic. I will be the first to admit that I am not a big fantasy fan nor am I really a YA fan but I loved loved this story.

Catori is a college student who has a life altering experience after her mother’s death. Fae fae hunter? Or human? Who do you trust where does she fit in and what will happen to everyone in her life that can’t keep a secret? The fact that every person and every detail is important makes you pay more attention to the little things and see how they bloom. Catori is stubborn Kajika is just this hard ass with a soft heart and Cruz I have yet to figure out Cruz. But if you have read anything by this author there is always one person that you kind of are left thinking about oh what role will he play or she play. This book has an awesome plot lighthearted banter and quotes that will make you believe in magic or at least in love. Five stars all the way can not wait to see what is next… Let the love triangle or square continue! ( )

First I would like to thank Netgallery and publisher for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was first attracted by the pretty cover. This was a YA fantasy story featuring the fae. I did find the beginning of the book a bit hard to get through but the more I read on the more it all came together, and I loved the ending. I had never read anything written by Olivia Wildenstein but this book won’t be my last I will definitely be reading the second book of this series! ( )

This was yet another solid (audio)book from the venerable Mrs Olivia Wildenstein. I was a little reticent about jumping into this one, especially since I still have a book hangover from the finale of Olivia's Kingdom of Crows series. The two series are vastly different, but they both showcase an impressive heroine... both unaware of their own inner strengths. Both book's females are relateable, humanly flawed, and easy to root for.

I just started this Lost Clan series so I'm not 100% sure, but it gives off strong love triangle/quadrangle(?) vibes... not my favorite trope, mainly because it's extremely difficult to execute properly BUT when it's done right it can definitely ratchet up a story's intensity.

I am the type of bibliophile that adores a good character driven tale Thankfully, this book has nicely fleshed out, detailed characters that can illicit strong emotions in a reader. I'm curious to see what the future holds for this motley crew. Although my ship is a longshot, I'm excited to see if it becomes cannon. I am also quite anxious to get my hands on (audio)book #2, Rowen Wood Legends.

My final 2 cents: if you're into strong female protagonists, (possible) budding of enemies to lovers romance, (possible) love entanglements, Fae and the magic they wield, Native American culture/mythos, other types of Magic users, Magical Realism and the Coming of Age tropes then this audiobook is right in your wheelhouse... give it a chance... you just might've found your next binge read/listen! Well my TBR just got a little longer books 2 and 3 were published years ago and now I am going to have to go and read them to find out what happens next.

Stephanie Fritz did a great job with the narration of this novel. I was able to speed up the recording to 2.0x and still understand everything.

I thought this book was well done and the author left you wanting to find out what happens next. I don't want to say too much because I don't want to spoil anything. If you like stories about the Fae world then you will probably enjoy this book. ( )

I quite liked this book overall. The fusion of fairy lore and Native American legends was quite a unique and very interesting premise. It certainly caught my attention and imagination. The world-building was good and the magic system was explained well.
The insta-love triangle that seemed to develop didn't do it for me. I couldn't see the chemistry between the characters and I would have liked to see more of Catori establish herself as a force to be reckoned with rather than a pawn of hunter and fae. Maybe she will understand her role better in the next book. I am interested enough to find out and I am looking forward to reading/listening to it.

I voluntarily reviewed an audio copy provided by the publiaher. ( )
