A scientifically plausible zombie apocalypse, with all of the back-story included. You will love and hate these characters, and cheer when some of them get chewed on. It took me almost a week to finish, because at heart I'm kind of a chicken. Couldn't listen alone, or before bed. Great story, and looking forward to the rest of it! Biochemist Frank Fox lost his wife to cancer eight years ago. He'd been recruited by the military to work on a classified mission for a cure that could save tens of thousands of soldiers. On the verge of success, his wife unexpectedly lost her battle and love was torn away from him. He was sent home to care for his young son Shaun, who still holds resentment today for his father's absence. Now when a second chance at love holds promise, Karen tells him that she too is dying of cancer. Frank vows to cure her, not knowing of the deadly results and government cover up that took place almost a decade earlier at a middle eastern army base. When Frank thinks he has the cure, a new breed of zombies are unleashed like you've never read about before. They have super human strength and unnatural speed. Their hunger can never be satisfied. When the outbreak happens, Frank wants only one thing, to get his son Shaun and his friends free from town, and fighting a battle against zombies to do so. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |

For starters, the story takes forever to start getting interesting, although once it finally does, it´s quite good, grasping you and not letting you go.
But throughout the entire book I was really bothered by the characters and their inane conversations. The main adult protagonist, Dr. Frank Fox, is basically and arrogant ass and a shitty parent. The son isn´t much better, admittedly, and spends the entire book whining for one reason or another. The women are either damsels in distress or harebrained children. I don´t think this book would pass the Bechdel test for movies.
I guess I won´t continue with this series. ( )
