I like the concept of this book, yet I could not as much as I tried get excited about the book or Alice. I got about half way into the book. I only retained about a third of what I read. Honestly, if I could have been more engaged in Alice and the story I actually could have liked this book a lot more. There was some interesting things happening. Alice was starting to figure out just what abilities she truly had and the full extent of them. In addition, for me I was not making the yoga connection to the story. Again however as I stated even though I did not like this book, I would try this author again in the future. Zeige 2 von 2 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

Alice Brickstone is a socially anxious, extremely tall teen who stands out in her small town and hates it. Relentlessly bullied for her mutism, she never made any friends and always channeled her energy into sports. Then she makes the discovery she can see and feel a magical substance in the air that no one else can. She soon finds it enables her to do amazing things. Her selective mutism doesn't disappear, but who cares about talking if she can fly? Everything comes crashing down for Alice when she finds herself the target of a deadly stalker who seems to know about her powers. When she barely escapes with her life, she finds her spirits lifted by the unexpected kindness of a girl on her swim team. As Alice and her new friend Madison race to figure out who is hunting her and why, they quickly learn there's more at stake than either of them could have dreamed. GIRL IN THE AIR is the first book in the ALICE BRICKSTONE series of page-turning, fast-paced, magical adventures for young adults. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |

As for Alice, there are no words to describe this grown woman in a teenager's body, who makes you feel like giving her a great big hug, but also makes you feel you should be straightforward and matter-of-fact with her, because that's the way she'd want it. As Alice slowly starts to open her eyes to her family, friends and others around her, you feel like she's finally awakening from a dream and coming to life for the first time.
I sincerely hope the author writes many more books about Alice and her adventures because when I closed the book on the final page, I felt like I was saying goodbye to a dear friend. I definitely want to see Alice again.
