Pandora is a young girl with two very different grandmothers, one of them being a witch. Granny Crow, the witch, loves to help Pandora out using her magic. Granny Podmore, on the other hand, is neat and sensible and the two of them never agree on anything.

This book contains three different stories involving Pandora, her friends, her grandmothers and their adventures. Unfortunately, when Granny Crow tries to help Pandora, things do not always go according to plan. After playing fun games and eating some delicious food at the Hallowe'en Party, Granny Crow's drink goes wild and crazy pumpkins begin to sabotage the party. In the second story the children are off to make stuffed animals for a birthday party when the stuffing machine breaks down. When Granny Crow uses her magic to repair the machine, fluff explodes everywhere. In the last story Pandora and her friends are off to a swim party and once again Granny Crow steps in when the bus breaks down and the dressing rooms are a mess.

Of course everything always turns out in the end and Pandora's friends love Granny Crow's magic. This is a good chapter book for early readers with cute black and white illustrations. I would recommend this book to late primary and early junior classrooms for their libraries, as well as elementary and school libraries.
