He spends his days reading, roaming, and trying desperately to recall his former life. Hope is restored when a boy his own age moves into the manor-a boy he quickly becomes fascinated by. The Ghost of Buxton Manor is a well written book. The first chapter is outstanding leading the reading to want more. As I continued it was not what I was expecting, which it is difficult to suprise me when it comes to storylines. Readers get to know the characters too with some added interesting history thrown in as well. This is a nice paranormal story with a bit of a twist. It may not be everyone cup of tea, but many readers are able to find elements they will enjoy. ( )

I received this from Library Thing to read and review. This is a fascinating story. However, the author tends to get into wordy tangents, that detract from the story. If the writing were more succinct and concise, I think it would be a better story.

In this story the author delves into the world of ghosts and things beyond death. The main character, Rupert, has been dead for over 100 years, residing alone in his family house/mansion, with little or no memory of his life, trying to figure things out. When the house is sold and a family moves in, things change. The family has a young son, Aaron, about Rupert’s age, who immediately fascinates Rupert. As the story progresses, the reasons behind this fascination begin to take shape for Rupert and for the reader. Rupert likewise begins the arduous and long journey to remembering who he once was, what his life and that of his contemporaries and family were like, and what happened to land him where he currently is. Additionally, numerous other ghosts come in and out of the story, some quite regularly, presenting a world where ghosts live, with all its trappings. I found all this quite interesting, to say the very least, since I have always been fascinated by ghosts and the afterlife.

The writing is well done. The characters are also well developed. The plot is also an interesting one, and, as I said, all the information on ghosts and their “lives” was fascinating to read. This is a great read that will probably interest any “interested in ghosts” reader, like me. I just think the author could use a better editor to help him tighten things up, him eliminate excessive wordiness and, at times, edit his choice of vocabulary (which, I think, could have been a tad more suitable at times). Still, I applaud the author for his creativity in writing this book, which provides a different, but interesting, perspective on ghosts and hauntings. ( )

I received a copy of this book in return for a review and I regret taking so long to read it. I really enjoyed the book. The story was such an interesting concept I couldn't get enough. I'm usually not a fan of making a book into a movie but this is one I think would be awesome. Thank you for letting me be a part of your creative imagination! ( )

I was engrossed in this marvelous book. It is a mystery, a type of fantasy, a love story, and a breath of hope. Written in a very sensitive manner, the story is told by the ghost of a teen long dead and unable to remember his life time until a new family takes residence and a series of others from beyond help him to remember and cope with same startling revelations. Unforgettable in a very good way.
No spoilers, and the publisher's blurb is something of a distorted mess.
Thanks to LibraryThing Giveaways for the opportunity to win this book! ( )
