‘Cursed Miracles’ is an excellent title for this unusual Christmas story that had me go from shocked and angry to relieved in the span of its relatively few pages. William fell in love with his friend, Brady, two hundred years ago when society was less than accepting and had to watch as his vindictive witch-wife killed and cursed Brady to be reincarnated over and over again. Then the witch cursed William to live until Brady would find him again. And all of that happened on Christmas Eve – no wonder William hates Christmas!

The pain of living without the man he loves is unimaginable. William has tried to find him, attempted to get other magic users to help him lift the curse, but nothing helped. He has had many “almost Bardy” encounters over the years, so when he sees –what he thinks – yet another imagined version of Brady at the company Christmas party, William thinks the man who looks and sounds so much like his lover is yet another hallucination.

Brady has not had it easy either – he may have had separate lives and has aged normally each time, but the curse ensured that he always remembers the “original” version of his life, prompting him to try to find William again and again. When he finally does, he is over the moon and more than ready to continue their relationship where they left off.

If you like your Christmas stories to contain a touch of the supernatural, if curses and reincarnation and all its consequences fascinate you, and if you’re looking for a read that is full of sadness and pain only to morph into sweet happiness, then you will probably like this novella.
