I can see how other people would like this poetry collection, but I was not in any way the intended audience of the book (which I did not know before hand) so it didn't stick with me as much as it could have other people. ( ) Whisky Words & a Shovel is modern poetry at its finest. R.H. Sin takes the building blocks of old poets, like Plath and Frost, and updates poetry for the modern audience. His poetry is short, simple, and to the point. The reader does not need a deep analysis in order to connect with the poems. The simplicity of the writing flows with ease, and his poems are almost exclusively written for teens and young adults. The topics he writes about are relatable for the age group, from teen challenges, first heartbreak, and young romance. Teaching Voice through Poetry https://www.poetryinvoice.com/teach/lesson-plans Just over a year ago I wrote this short review: Last month I reviewed R H Sin's Whiskey, Words, and a Shovel II. I was so impressed with the work that I ordered this collection. Sin sticks to what his does best -- hard-hitting, brutally honest, emotional, and pertinent poetry. There are no wasted words in his writing and no missed meanings. Just an outstanding work. The new release will make many people happy. I have been asked more than once to sell my copy of this book. It was such a hit that when the first printing sold out, or before that, the price skyrocketed. This revised edition contain the same punch and emotion as the first edition. For all the people that missed the first edition, you now have a second chance. Available May 2, 2017 Zeige 4 von 4 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
Originally released in 2015, this re-rerelease packs the same punch as the first version, but makes an even greater connection with the soul of the reader. Each piece has been re-seen and revamped to reflect the author's continuing journey with his partner, Samantha King, without whom this book would not exist. Samantha is the muse, the "she" the writer speaks of; she is every woman who has felt like she wasn't good enough, and every woman who struggles to find love.
