I thought this was a good book for two reasons. I first enjoyed the book for its plot. The plot followed a sequential order detailing Paul Revere's life. More specifically, I enjoyed the fact that the book offered dates throughout the course of the biography. For example, the book wrote that Paul Revere "was born on New Year's Day, 1735." This helped me to follow along better. I also liked the book for its illustrations and the way that they enhanced the biography. The illustrations spanned two pages and were very detailed. One of the illustrations that stood out the most was the one depicting the Revolutionary War. The clear definition between the red coats and the blue coats indicated the divide in the battle. The background also featured violence like guns and fire. These illustrations helped me to better understand the story. Overall, the big idea of this biography was that Paul Revere was an important figure in American history. ( )

This book was surprisingly very interesting. I am a person who enjoys history, but I wasn’t sure how much I would enjoy a book about Paul Revere. The book was full of factual information, but it was all easy to understand and read. I think that this is very important because there is nothing worse than not being able to comprehend or follow along with what you are reading. All the dates and facts go in order and are well explained. For example when discussing the Boston Massacre, the author discussed how there was an issue over paying taxes and then explained how guns were shot at British soldiers and finally he said it was called the Boston Massacre. This allowed the reader to understand exactly what was going on and why it was happening.
I also like that the book gave a lot of insight on Paul’s life. It talked about him as a child and how he took over his dad’s silversmith shop when his father passed away. It also talked about his family how he married a woman named Sara and had eight children and then she passed away and he remarried and had eight more children. Paul is so well known for his ride that warned the colonist about the soldiers coming, but little is ever taught about his personal life. I think that it was interesting to learn these parts about his life.
The final thing that I thought was good about the book was that the pictures were simplistic. The story was filled with a fare amount of text so it was a smart move to keep the pictures simplistic so the reader wasn’t overwhelmed by all the information. ( )

I really liked this book. I had thought that since it was a biography I wouldn't enjoy it as much as some of the other genres but the author and illustrators depicted Paul Revere's life in an interesting and engaging way. Each life event gave me helpful information as to what he accomplished at each age and how it impacted the next stages in his life. I really liked the plot of this book because although it wasn't a typical narrative it gave readers a timeline of the events in his life. I liked how the author used a bit of repetition by always mentioning when Paul Revere would go back to being a silversmith. Another aspect was the accuracy of the book. I appreciated how the author did not lie about any of the information. All of the events align with the real life of Paul Revere, its just that this book had pictures to go along with it. The nonfiction aspect was able to inform me as a reader of the occurrences that happened in Paul Revere's life without having to omit anything. The main message of this book was to inform readers of the life that Paul Revere lived and how he has impacted our society today. ( )

I had mixed feelings about this book after reading it. I liked the book because the illustrations were all appropriate with the text. For example, when the book talked about Paul Revere having to take over his father's silversmith shop with his brother the illustration was of him and his brother working and polishing silver. There's a lot of detail in all of the illustrations in this book.
One of the things that I didn't like about this book was the writing. The flow of events that happened and the way the author put sentences together was a little choppy. For example, "Paul Revere's father died in 1754. Paul was nineteen." I feel that if these two sentences were combined into one, the flow would have been better. It could have said, " In 1754, when Paul was nineteen, his father died." I've noticed numerous times that there were awkward sentences like this one.
Overall, this book was enjoyable to read because it had so much factual information that was easy to comprehend. The purpose for this book is for readers to understand who Paul Revere was and his contributions to the American Revolution/ history. ( )
