This book is like the lesser known [b:The Spanish Love Deception|54189398|The Spanish Love Deception (Spanish Love Deception, #1)|Elena Armas|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1610900883l/54189398._SY75_.jpg|84555384] and I thought they were both pretty mediocre.

The Accidental Honeymoon has a mild version of the contemp. romance trope where the girl doesn't pursue her dreams or doesn't act like herself for someone else's sake, and then the boy comes into her life and is like Why do keep changing yourself for other people?? And then she's like Omg I don't do that! and then she leaves and realizes she does do that and the boy brings out the best in her and then because of him she starts doing/being true to herself. This book has a pretty mild version of that, but I didn't love it.

Another problem I had was the fact that there are so many easily solved problems. Like FMC's mom and aunt's relationship, FMC and younger brother's relationship, FMC and sister in law's relationship, all three are solved by one conversation each. Also, all the characters are kinda stupid and predictable.

The plot could have worked, it just needed more time. But everything happened so quickly, like, as soon as there's a problem, it's solved immediately. There's no time for good things to feel good and bad things to feel bad and for the characters to feel alive. ( )

Georgie reacts to her cheating fiance by going to Vegas and getting drunkenly married. The fun part of the story is when her "husband" Jack gets roped into posing as her cheating fiance at her cousin's wedding. Georgie's family are pretty overwhelming at times and we learn that Georgie has reinvented herself a few times to fit the life she thinks she wants. Jack is awesome at caring for Georgie, despite their somewhat adversarial relationship at times. ( )

Want to freak out people around you? Take this book and go to a fairly crowded pub or café. Why? The humor will have you laughing out loud to the point people will think you have lost your mind. I did not want to put this book down as it’s the perfect thing to read when you’re feeling a bit down because you won’t be for long.

Macintosh did a great job writing this fun, light-hearted story full of interesting characters. It has everything you could want in a great summer novel from friendship to romance to everything in between. I loved the mix of cultures and the sweet fish out water theme she used to bring out different layers in her characters as they had to adjust to different countries, cultures and lifestyles. She just did a great job of pulling it all together without resorting to stereotypes.

It was definitely a new twist on the age old “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” especially when it doesn’t! ( )
