Being English, I grew up at my Nan and Granddad's houses, hearing about stories of the war, from my Nanny Elsie losing all of her family to a doodlebug bomb in Bethnal Green, to my Granddad William and his tours in North Africa, but it wasn't until I was older, and unfortunately after 3 of 4 of my grandparents passed away did I thing about asking them about life on the home front. But through reading The Keeping of Secrets by Alice Graysharp, through her story of Pat; The story of Pat's struggle with her family, evacuation, new love, devastation, starting again, and all while dealing with the war, gives me a greater outlook on life during world war 2.

This whole book fascinated me from the beginning, I became enchanted with the story (which I'm struggling not to tell you about) and the beautiful writing, that spurred me off the page, and whisked me into the story.

The Keeping of Secrets is not a romance, or fluff book, but a coming of age story of a women who lived through more than we could dream of! I honestly cannot recommend this book enough to everyone! It truly is a must read!
