I was devastated to discover that one of my favorite actresses of all time has some very wacky ideas, especially about God and religion. ( ) Every now and then I like to read about someone else's life, their journey on this planet and the troubles they've had as well as the delights and joys they've experienced. Last week I read Doris Day: Her Own Story. Even though it was an "as-told-to" A.E. Hotchner, I could actually hear Doris Day telling the story as I read it. Doris (or Clara depending on who is referring to her) like all of us, has had adversity as well as triumphs but her spirit and attitude toward life is something I admire. I learned that Doris was heavily influenced by Christian Science teachings laid on top of a Catholic background which made her spiritual evolution particularly interesting I think. For me, an added bonus in reading Doris Day's story was finding the J. Allen Boone books about communicating with dogs. I personally have had the great honor and pleasure of knowing three dogs in this way and if you have experienced it too you know what I mean. Doris Day Her Own Story By A.E. Hotchner This was a wonderful story of how Doris Day began her life and why her dancing career almost came to a complete halt. Doris’s story allowed great insight into the how’s and whys that she began an acting career and a look at her life as she rose in fame and popularity. Doris is such a real-life, genuine person in such a "plastic" place like Hollywood. It was refreshing to read about her life, struggles and triumphs that she went through. I really enjoyed reading this book & I recommend it!! Zeige 4 von 4 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
