I really enjoyed reading this book. I think it does a good job of showing problem-solving skills, and how friends help each other out. ( )

When the rocks get together to play and roll around their favorite hill, they find that one of their friends, Ricky, can't roll with them. Unlike all of the others, who are all round, Ricky can't roll because he's flat on one side. Determined not to leave their friend behind, the rock friends set out to help Ricky roll around - one way or another.

All of the rocks love to roll down the hill...but Ricky can't, because he's flat on one side. Rather than leaving him to his sad, stationary fate, the other rocks help Ricky figure out a way to roll.

Read aloud via video by preschool teacher. ( )

This is an incredible book about friendship, rock types, and physics! Ricky cannot roll because one side of him is flat, so his friends helped come up with a way to make him round, and able to roll with them. I loved the puns about the rock types "Maya was lava but taken for Granite" and "Kai was a meteorite and not from this planet". The illustrations are super cool and Ricky actually looks like a rock (with a face though of course). You could easily use this book to teach about physics and you could also use it as an intro into geology or learning about rocks and minerals. The best part is that it teaches a lesson about friendship and about how some people(or rocks) are just different, but they should always be included nonetheless. ( )

So Ricky the rock, as the title states, can’t roll. And all his other rock friends can. So the other rocks come up with ways to include Ricky in their games. It’s a cute book with a good lesson and it touched home for me since my own youngest daughter Avery is a little delayed and I hope everyone includes her at school. ( )
