Fiction. Literature. HTML:

New York Times bestselling author Diane Chamberlain delivers a thrilling, mind-bending novel about one mother's journey to save her child.
When Carly Sears, a young woman widowed by the Vietnam war, receives the news that her unborn baby girl has a heart defect, she is devastated. It is 1970, and she is told that nothing can be done to help her child. But her brother-in-law, a physicist with a mysterious past, tells her that perhaps there is a way to save her baby. What he suggests is something that will shatter every preconceived notion that Carly has. Something that will require a kind of strength and courage she never knew existed. Something that will mean an unimaginable leap of faith on Carly's part.
And all for the love of her unborn child.
The Dream Daughter is a rich, genre-spanning, breathtaking novel about one mother's quest to save her child, unite her family, and believe in the unbelievable. Diane Chamberlain pushes the boundaries of faith and science to deliver a novel that you will never forget.

I received this advance copy of The Dream Daughter by Diane Chamberlain from SheSpeaks, put out by St. Martin's Press. This book includes 2 genres I ordinarily do not choose for leisure reading: historical fiction and science fiction. However, not only was it a brilliant cross between the two, the book was interesting to me from beginning to end. I would LOVE to discuss in long detail what I thought and what I loved, but my goal is to present a summary without spoilers. There is a half cover over the book with an enticing clip that gives a hint that this story is also a thriller, and in my opinion, could be turned easily into a best seller movie! I have a little medical background, so I was amazed at how accurate it was for each time era scientifically. At the end of the book, the author does credit all her resources. I am impressed at the lengths Diane went to ensure a book that matched the facts for politics, trends, and lifestyles throughout the book. To me, the ending was bittersweet, but I felt there was closure as all loose ends in the story were understood in the end. I wish I could have read it all in one day, but it took two for me. If you do not read quickly, expect this to take several days and expect it to be hard to decide where to bookmark it until the next time. Some events I was able to predict in the book. Many events I was not. Themes of love, never giving up and sacrifice run like a strong thread throughout the book. Some books you wish you had just checked out at the library because they aren't worth the money. This one is worth the money! It also would be a great gift, especially for females. It really is not just a story for women. The main character in this story is a strong woman who really takes care of herself well alone at times like a man would.#readthedreambook #nospoilers #overview #advancecopy #gotitfree #productreview #war #love #family #timetravel ( )

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of this fantastic, clever, book! It is not your typical Chamberlain book and I was leery at first. I love her books and her ability to tackle tough subjects. This was different but brilliant!

Carly is pregnant in 1970, recently widowed, and sent to 2001 to hopefully receive surgery on her baby's heart. Imagine her surprise at how different the world was from 1970 to 2001!

And that's only the beginning. The author takes us to 2013, throws many obstacles and painful, heartwrenching decisions at Carly, and gives the reader a real page-turner to see how Carly's going to make it through. Clever writing, clever story! ( )

Excellent book! I thought the time traveling concept would be stupid but i loved it! Joe was a POW and the Joanna came back to see her birth parents in Nags Head!! ( )

I enjoyed this book, I like Diane Chamberlain as an author although I didn’t fully buy into the time travel element of the story. ( )
