Faith, the eponymous Little Fairy, returns in this fourth picture-book devoted to her adventures from German author/illustrator Daniela Drescher. Enjoying the woodland berries one day, she encounters her friend the mole and is surprised to discover that he longs to fly, just as she does. Originally published in Germany as Die kleine Elfe wünscht sich was, Little Fairy Makes a Wish pairs a sweet tale of friendship and magic with lovely illustrations. I enjoy Drescher's stories, and think young fairy-tale and fantasy lovers will as well, but it is the artwork that makes her books so charming. The deep, vivid colors employed, the contrast between the delicate fairy and the plump mole, the luminous moon, flowers and star on the darker pages - these all make for an appealing visual feast. Recommended to anyone who has read and enjoyed the other stories about Faith, or who likes picture-books about fairies. ( )
