I was drawn to this book because I wanted to laugh at the unending challenges of parenting and I wanted a glimpse into family life in rural Ireland. In the end, both desires were fulfilled. There were some very funny stories. However, the author spends too much time on developing the picture of the family and lost my attention. I only got to the funny stories because I was committed to reading the whole book before reviewing it. Probably better suited to be a novella or essay rather than a book. As a young parent myself, I was looking forward to this book, hoping to find ways to commiserate and bond over familiar struggles, and maybe learn a few tricks. I was a bit disappointed by the rather flat recollection on rather typical (and thus relatable) family struggles and I found the "lessons learned" section to be a bit on the obvious side, but that may be because I've had to go through them the hard way.One thing is certain: parenting can be a struggle, so if reading (or indeed writing) this book can enable a parent to feel less alone and hopeless, then it's worth it and I commend the author for winning at parenting and finding the time to write her story down! I just couldn't relate to it much personally. Zeige 2 von 2 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
