I am going to give this a solid 3.25.

Roxy is married to Rage, the Prez of the Demons of Hell MC. Rage's name fits him well. He's full of rage, and he takes it out on Roxy. He's spent most of their whole marriage beating her and passing her around to members of his MC as well as other MCs. He's treated her just terribly, but she's stuck by him because she knows if she tries to escape, he will hunt her down. But now, she's pregnant, and Rage doesn't know yet, and she's not sure when she will tell him, but she wants to just be the best mom she can be. Right until he beats her with a baseball bat.

Tex is Rage's best friend. They both met Roxy when she was a teenager, but Tex was dating her first. Then Rage pushed in and took over. He's spent all the years til now watching what happened to her. He stayed away as much as possible, and since the worst things that Rage did happened when he was gone, he doesn't know everything that's happened. But when he comes home to find her laying 98% dead on the sidewalk outside the clubhouse, he knows it's time to do something.

Hmmm... I would get knocked in and out of the story. There were times that I really loved what was going on, but then there were also times when I just didn't like what was happening at all. There is some graphic description of abuse that happens in the book. I felt, overall, like it was almost 2 books pushed together, and I think that it would've worked better if it had been broken down into 2 separate stories. That way the love story that happened would have gotten more attention and would've gotten the attention that it deserved. I really liked that part and would really love to see more of it. ( )

This is definitely a dark MC. It was hard to read at times. There is nothing sugary sweet about this MC. The author did a good job of showing club life.

There were parts that I felt didn't flow with the story (the mutual exchanging between Aimee and her Men with The H and h). Just didn't make sense considering how much the h had been through. ( )

This was a tale of two halves for me; one in which I really wish I could have liked much better than I did.
Ultimately It just wasn't for me and though I have previously loved books of this particular author "Scarred" (Demons of Hell MC Book 1) just didn't do it for me at all.
The first two-thirds of this story may not have blown me away but I was still somewhat onboard and invested in the relationship developing between Roxy and Vince.
I did struggle to feel the connection and also understand how he had looked sideways for years considering his overall feelings towards Roxy, but I tried to overlook that slightly due to the emerging story dynamic and its potential for some dramatic grovelling and explosive probable blowback.
But then everything seemed to go to hell in and a handbasket and I was left floundering around in the dark.
At around two thirds into this the whole relationship, dynamic changed completely and I didnt like it at all.
We had new entities in the form of two other males and a female brought into the equation and for me, it just didn't work.
We have the random use of the word daddy which just seemed to come abruptly out the blue and while when done in a certain way can certainly be hot here it just felt plain weird and a bit Eww.
I also didn't believe considering Roxy's background that she would be so up for these type of encounters; I mean the girl had been shared amongst her husband's cronies for years; I just can't see it myself.
I also struggled with just how graphic some of the situations portrayed here were after years of abuse at the hands of her husband and MC I would have liked to see Roxy catch a break not be placed back in such horrific circumstances.
And then there's poor Amy I just didn't see the need for her particular fate.
I did like the ending here but would still really like more of an explanation into why Rage is the way he is; I mean the guys certifiably nuts; surely there is more of an overall reason for his irrational actions towards his wife.
The epilogue here for me also raised more questions; why now after thirteen years is Rage stepping out of the woodwork? Why leave it so long?
So Look this really wasn't my flavour but that's not to say it won't be yours.
I have read Elizabeth Knox books that I have absolutely adored this one just wasn't my particular bag. It had its moments and if I'm honest I enjoyed the first half much more than the second.
It wasn't actually badly written we just didn't click and I struggled with the overall violence here.
I'm no stranger to these type of storylines but I think with such violence and dark behaviour a counterbalance of extremities is needed to balance things out slightly.
You know that we are soul mates till the end of days and I will love you till my dying breath sort of affection; something that isn't voiced just felt deep within; but I really didn't feel that emotion here and maybe that's where my issues lie.
It just seemed to me to be cruelty and brutality for shock-value rather than the added progression of the overall storyline.
So sorry I couldn't like this more than I did.
Finally a warning this book has some very hard-core rape and abuse scenes please do avoid if this is at all a trigger for you.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of "Scarred (Demons of Hell MC Book 1)" of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions are entirely my own.
