While the bible itself holds the answers to practically any question one might have regarding life, relationships to others, and to the Lord himself and the promises He’s made to those who follow him whole-heartedly; some time to time there’s a contradiction in what’s written in the Bible
As one reads Philippians between the lines carefully, they would find an important question regarding Paul’s writing it. Putting yourself in Paul’s shoes, if you’ve ever experienced any sort of devastating grief or anguish; then how is it possible to be joyful at the same moment. For the Apostle Paul, his writing of Philippians took place during the time he had been in prison for the crime of preaching that our Lord had been the son of God. Logic would tend to dictate that this couldn’t have been a time of any joy for Paul, which is what happens to be the overall theme [joy] for this book of the bible.
How can Paul feel joyful in this, his time of distress; a possible answer I feel can be found in Isaiah 51:11 [King James Bible]:
“Therefore, the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.”
After reading this book, I feel readers will come away with, through the lesson sections of this book, an understanding and hopefully the ability of having suffering become a blessing in disguise in their lives. For wanting to instill this belief in his readers, I’ve given Pastor Joseph Davis the 5 STARS he’s garnered from this reviewer of Christian books. ( )
