Beyond boring ( )

The Taccones are back, but we aren't in Vegas this time around. We're in Chicago with Junior and the family. Nico and Sergio are still in Vegas and they make a tiny appearance here, but mostly, we're seeing the Chicago family.

Junior, along with his brothers Gio and Paolo, have to go meet the Russians. The problem is that it's a trap. The whole thing ends up with Gio getting shot. They can't go to the hospital, so Junior takes Gio home and does the only thing he can think of. He tells his men to get Desiree, the home health nurse who took care of his mom, and who is a trauma nurse. So, off they go, and kidnap her and bring her to the house to take care of Gio.

Meanwhile, Desiree has always lusted after Junior, but she didn't want it to quite happen this way. She also has a secret that she's keeping that engulfs her entire life.

We've seen Junior in the other books, and he always struck me as a major jerkwad, but I should really know better than to judge one of Renee Rose's characters that way. He has a lot inside and he has to hold a lot inside. He really is a victim, in some ways. It takes Desiree to actually see him, and they are so wonderful together. I got lots of feels from this one, it was so good. ( )

This is by far the best of the books in this series and might be my favorite Renee Rose book yet. I hope all the siblings end up getting a story(hint hint!) because they all have distinct characteristics that pique my interest. Plus, if that happens then there would still be two more brothers following the sister).

The author did a great job creating the characters and showing the person behind the mask. After numerous books inferring that Junior was not a likable or redeemable guy, the author shattered that perception in this book. Yes, he is married but hasn't been "in" a marriage for years (the why will come out in the story) but do not let this hinder you from reading this book. It is not a focal point but is more like a detail such as if the reader was reading that the hero had dark hair, was muscular or has chest hair. I am glad that the author gave him, Desiree, a strong female lead that wasn't afraid to stand her ground against a dominating made man, but also knew how too crack his outer shell. I enjoyed the bantering as well as the storyline as a wholeThe steamy times were delicious as always. Sometimes, the spanking setup in the stories comes off cheesy but in this one, it did not.
