After years of war, Lincoln Sheppard thought he'd left the violence and ugliness behind. He was content with the life he built for himself. Then the woman down the street came in and shook everything up.All Eden Brenner ever wanted was to have a place to call home. She finally found that in Hope Valley. Then she went and fell in love with the man a few houses down the first time she laid eyes on him. There was just one problem. Women like her didn't catch the attention of men like him. He was totally and completely out of her league. And to make matters worse, when her past comes knocking, the beautiful world she's built for herself is at risk of crumbling to the ground. When danger forces Eden into his arms, Lincoln begins to see her in a whole new light, and he suddenly finds himself wanting things he never expected. And he wants them all with the shy, clumsy woman from down the street. But when the truth comes out, that proves nearly impossible. Now he's fighting the hardest battle of his life, and the stakes are higher than ever. Protect the woman he's falling for while trying to win her heart at the same time.… (mehr)

Lincoln and Eden.
Small town romance.
Excellent secondary characters and loads of breadcrumbs dropped for future books in series. Lots of potential.
Lincoln is popular with the ladies, one of the reasons he doesn't want to get involved with Eden is he likes his variety.
Eden notices him at a party, he doesn't really seem to notice her, they don't interact, then he leaves with another woman, who he was already with.
After her officially meets her, he is at his house with a different woman.
There are no intimate details of anyone other than the Hero and heroine but I know some readers have an issue with the Hero being with others after meeting the heroine.
It is mentioned several times by others and in his thoughts that he sleeps around prior to his relationship with the heroine.
He doesn't appear to be with any other women once he takes an interest in her.
Eden is very likeable, she has self confidence issues due to a very difficult family background.
It's not difficult to see what the issue will be, it's well written, fantastic banter between Eden and her friends and Lincoln and his mates.
I wasn't too keen on Lincoln, he seemed a bit shallow on his outlook of women, once she smartened up and he was thrown in her path, so he got to know her he saw her value.
He does come to his senses and there is big time grovelling.

In typical fashion, this author has created the start of a wonderful new series. I loved every single one of the characters that she portrayed in this story and cannot wait to learn more about them. So many possibilities.

One of my favorite things about this author is that she can create a fictional world in a variety of settings. Everything from a team of radio talk show celebrities, to rock God's, to a small town city where apparently there is something in the water because all the men in Hope Valley are fine specimens of men.

I also love that this author creates real characters. I loved that the heroine struggled with body issues. As a woman who is her size in the book, I too have the same issues. I, like, Eden, never see myself how others see me. It was nice to see Lincoln and everyone else see what she struggled to see and that she was beautiful. Lincoln was the perfect gentleman and he was as good for her as she was for him. Loved Rocky too.

I cannot wait to read the next stories. Looking forward to them all. ( )
