This is a fun series. Having a middle aged heroine isn't so unique these days, but her supporting cast of characters certainly is. I've never given much thought to what happens to paranormals when they are outliving their usefulness. The ones surrounding her fit the old saying, "crazy as a betsy bug." They keep the story interesting. Of course, I like the main character. It's nice to see a woman owning her age and experience rather than wishing she was young again. I'll continue on with the series. ( )

A worthy sequel. Again great fun and great characters. Particularly the old ones that were already in part 1. The new ones are so far mediocre, and I actually thought it was a bit against Jessie's personality to leave the overbearing idiot be, but it was not a problem. ( )

I really enjoy this series! Besides having a black alicorn all the characters are quirky and fun. ( )

Series Info/Source: This is the 2nd book in the Leveling Up series, right now there are 5 books released in this series. I borrowed this as an ebook through Kindle Unlimited.

Thoughts: I am continuing to really enjoy this series. In this book Jessie is struggling to learn both how to use her magic and how to fly with her Gargoyle powers. She accidentally calls for help in the process of learning how to fly (and failing). Suddenly she has a bevy of gargoyles at Ivy House to deal with and one in particular is an alpha just like Austin. To add to this chaos a group of mages shows up intent on claiming the magic of Ivy House for themselves.

I continue to love the quirky characters, humor, and unique magic in this story. I love to watch as Jessie learns about her new powers and about how to deal with being a female gargoyle. She steps up to the challenge of both mastering her new magic and managing this crazy household. This also features Jessie also entering the world of online dating and the results of this are both hilarious and disastrous. I love where the story is going and was highly entertained throughout this whole book.

My Summary (4/5): Overall I really enjoyed this story and thought it was a great addition to the Leveling Up series. I love the characters, the magic, the fast pace and all the humor here. I am eager to watch these characters grow more and excited to see how Jessie’s powers advance. I would recommend this to those who enjoy adult urban fantasy reads with a lot of humor. ( )
