Frank Morgan is also known by the moniker of The Drifter. Frank is fast with a gun and has faced many opponents reluctantly, but what sets Frank apart is that he doesn’t go looking for trouble. The Drifter just wants to go wherever the wind blows him, but he seems to always land in the middle of trouble. Frank is wandering into Arizona when he finds himself in the middle of a brewing range war between the Lazy F Ranch and Sandeen’s Saber Ranch. The owner of the Sandeen Ranch wants to own the whole valley and eventually the town, and he doesn’t care how he acquires the land or businesses.
Frank finds himself accused of choosing a side in the range war, being on Sandeen’s payroll and being shot at from both sides of the range. What Frank wants to know is who is really putting these two ranchers at odds with one another. While Frank rides the land and ask questions in the hopes of finding out who is behind stirring up trouble in the valley that was once peaceful, he comes across a special deputy.
All around the range blood is being spilled, fires are started, and gun smoke fills the air. The town’s Mayor recruits Frank to be the town marshal with the hopes that the range trouble won’t spill into their streets. However, Frank is now being hunted and accused of murdering the owner of the Lazy F. There are men after him, so Frank is on the run, but this character has no back up in him. He must find a way to reveal the truth and hope to stop the flow of blood.
I have read the books in the series in order; each has a unique and thrilling western adventure with a man who is reluctant to use his gun but won’t stand for people being harmed. The character is a solid, no-nonsense man, who has suffered heartache and been shot, yet is willing to help strangers when he comes across them. Readers will enjoy the town mayor in the book who seems to be a bum but there is more to him than most folks are aware of, smart and savvy too.
There is a little bit of everything in the book that is sure to draw readers into the story such as romance, mystery, tension and lots of action! Visit the author’s website and see the many stories available to enjoy at https://williamjohnstonebooks.com
