We start off with a tense scene, two women in a hotel room with a dead man between them. One woman is injured and covered in blood. Which one killed the man on the floor? After that I was confused as there were so many characters introduced at once. I was having trouble keeping them straight such as which one was Andrew's daughter or who was related to the other characters. Louise is the ex-wife of Andrew Page and Caz is the current wife. There are tensions between the two even as they try and play nicely with the relationships. The interviews at the police station reveal more about each woman's personality and you start to get a picture of their lives and how Andrew played them both. I developed some empathy for characters I previously disliked as the story continued. I would try another book by this author but I wasn't over the moon in love with this one. Again, I am i the minority after seeing reviews. Thanks to NetGalley for the complimentary copy of this book. This book was published by Avon books UK on July 9, 2020. Don't miss this brilliantly twisty new thriller Both of them loved him. One of them killed him . . . Louise has had to watch her husband, Andrew, start a new family in the four years since he left her. The 'other woman' is now his wife - but Louise isn't ready to let Caz enjoy the life that was once hers, or to let go of the man she still loves. As Louise starts to dig into Caz's past, the two women's presence of civility starts to slip. But in trying to undermine each other, they discover more about the man they both married. And when Andrew is murdered at a family party, both women are found standing over the body. It's always the wife. But which one? Praise for Tess Stimson 'Dark, twisty and addictive' Lisa Jewell 'More chilling than Gone Girl and twistier than The Girl on the Train' Jane Green 'It never lets up, all the way to the shocking denouement' Alex Lake - Tess Stimson is the bestselling author of ten women's fiction novels (200k TCM) - Tess's new book takes a darker direction: Louise isn't ready to let go of the man she loves, even when he marries the 'other woman', Caz. When Andrew is murdered, both women are found standing over the body... It's always the wife, but which one? - Perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell, Louise Candlish and Adele Parks, this is dark, suspenseful women's fiction with brilliantly-drawn characters and a stunning twist. No one is likable in this novel, and the husband, Andrew, is a creep and totally weak. I had a suspicion early on as to the murderer. When it was revealed, I was correct, but there were many red herrings, with too much obsessive behavior and strange events occurring in the novel. ( )
