Delia Frost loves her job at the bank. She loves her customers, most of whom are elderly. She doesn't love the idea of quitting her job to travel around Australia in a motor home with her husband who is recovering from a heart attack - and she can't bring herself to tell him that she doesn't want to go. Days before quitting her job, she is invited to a book club meeting, run by a local celebrity. This seems like a beacon of hope, one last chance to do something for herself before she leaves it all behind. But this isn't a random invitation. Delia has been carefully selected by a serial killer to play her part in the murders of elderly widows. Finding herself caught in a web of blackmail and murder, and not wanting to believe the killer is someone she knows, Delia is now keen to leave this town as fast as she can... except the killer doesn't want to let her go.… (mehr)

In The Widow Catcher, book one of the Delia Frost Mystery Series, author Jonette Blake transports the reader to Batemans Cove, Australia, for an intriguing mystery story that will keep the reader turning the pages.

After Delia Frost's husband Richard had a recent heart attack, he wanted them to retire and travel around Australia in a motor home for the next twelve months. Delia didn't want to retire from the bank teller position that she's had for twenty years, and she didn't want to go on a long holiday and be stuck in a motor home! When co-worker, Andrew Nelson convinces Delia to attend a monthly book club meeting, she has no idea that she's walked into danger and has become a part of a serial killer's plan. Can Delia escape the serial killer's tangled web of elderly death plans, or will she become his next victim?

Author Jonette Blake weaves a suspenseful tale that reminds more of a cozy mystery than a typical thriller, as it follows Delia's ordeal with a serial killer who is determined to get revenge for a past wrong. The reader will be easily drawn into this intriguing plot, and while the author reveals the identity of the serial killer early on in the story, she keeps the readers guessing as to what was the real cause behind the serial killer's murderous plans of revenge. As long hidden secrets, family dramas, motives, and clues are uncovered, the reader will be completely shocked by the surprise ending.

I look forward to reading the next book in The Delia Frost Mystery Series.

A very good mystery with a well paced storyline and a great cast of interesting characters. This crime fiction story contains blackmail, murder, humor, and suspense. A very enjoyable read that was a real page turner. Highly recommended who done it with a decent plot. ( )
