They come from the wrong side of the tracks while Emily comes from wealth and the public spotlight, complete opposites or so they think. Ryan starts to seep under Emily’s skin and Emily fights him every step of the way which made their push and pull fun to watch. When things start to shift and feelings become confusing the attraction is too much to fight, they realize that everyone carries a pain some you can see and others you can’t, but it doesn’t make it any less painful and they find comfort with each other because of that. While Emily could hold her own against Ryan there were times Emily’s superiority complex showed and knowing how the guys had a rough life/grew up she still came off incredibly snobbish or insensitive, well to me she did.
The suspense kept me glued to my seat wondering how everything connected and I loved the side characters so much. I will say this I started this series completely not in order, what can I say I’m strange that way, but I started with Finn’s story then on to my favorite Soldiers of Briton Manor and I realized I was extremely happy that I did because while I love every character of both groups a few shocked me with how much I wasn’t a fan in the first two books.
When I read this book, I realized Emily could have handled things way better at the end with a certain someone realizing they were hurting too and for being known as such a caring person she came off as an @$$ to me and I found myself so mad at her for how things went down even knowing she wasn’t all to blame for it. Then in this story Liv. Liv is a character I LOVE because I read Psycho first and she just was meant for Adam, but in this book, I was upset with myself because I hated her. She came off as a selfish friend that was rude and acted out when she didn’t get her way or the attention wasn’t all on her, but I digress.
Overall, I love these series, the characters, but I will say I am so glad I read out of order and my anger towards some won’t linger lol.
