Devil's Ride is the 4th book in the Royal Bastards MC: Tonopah, NV Chapter series by Nikki Landis. Nikki has put a twist on her Royal Bastards MC chapter by throwing some paranormal into the mix. This book is an intense read with love and spice, sadness and heartbreak, violence and abuse, trauma and trafficking. It takes place in the past and the present. A heads up this is a dark romance with triggers so be warned.
This book is about Grim, the President of the Tonopah chapter and the original reaper of the club. When Trish was 10 years old she found Grim dying on the side of the road. He met his angel and made a deal with Lucifer himself all in his dying breath. They didn't see each other until 18 years later when Trish is bartending at the Blacktop bar that the club goes to. Trish has not had an easy life and little do they know they have the same enemy, The Bloody Scoprions MC. When Trish's cousin goes missing she goes to Grim to get help to find her and stays at the clubhouse to be safe. They got closer during that time and his reaper made his choice for them both.
I gave this a 4-star rating and a 4-spicy rating. I loved Grim's character and the entire story about the Reaper. Trish, I'm not sure whether I like so much or not. In the end, I liked her better but not in the beginning or middle. She went to Grim for help but didn't even tell him the full truth, who does that? I can't wait to read the next one in the series.

Authors warning 'This book contains dark and mature content, human trafficking, and violence with a paranormal REAPER twist.'

Eighteen years ago the Scorpions captured and tortured him, and killed his President and brother, Keys and Lockjaw. Dexter Langford made a deal with the devil and has been Grim, the Reaper ever since. For the past eighteen years he and his MC have been reapers, harvesting souls for the devil.

Trish Holloway was only ten when she first met Grim and neither of them ever forgot the other. She hasn't had an easy life, trying to care for a dead beat dad and avoid her stalker of a step-brother.

When Grim walks into the bar Trish is working at they instantly reconnected and were in bed a week later. But the danger surrounding the MC jeopardizes everything they were starting to build.

I loved the start of this book and even though things were happening lightning fast it was still working for me, until things took a turn. Sacrificing details to accelerate a story has it's place, until the lack of details and the unexplained time jumps become too much. I wanted Trish to trust and have faith in Grim but she was a runner, doing TSTL things making her annoying rather than the heroine I wanted. It also bugged me that after eighteen years the reapers still hadn't secured vengeance for their murdered president.

As they say the devil's in the details, unfortunately most were missing in this book. Great ideas, interesting characters but needed better execution.

I received a free copy of this book and I'm voluntarily leaving a review. If you like my reviews I hope you will follow my blog. https://wyldheartreads.wordpress.com/
