Stefan Blackman comes from a family of high profile psychics although he himself contents himself as a street magician until he is connected with a kidnapped teenager. Her fear and determination is enough to send him across the country to try and help find the kidnappers. The last thing he would have ever expected is to meet up with a beautiful FBI agent also intent on finding the girls. With a common cause the unlikely pair to work together, but even with their special resources will it be enough to save the teens from a nefarious fate?
In tried and true form for this author she gives us a face paced story with interesting characters and a splash of the paranormal. Also, as in most of her stories, we are left with an ending that isn't quite as solid of an ending as one would hope, not exactly a cliffhanger but not a true ending either. This is the first book of a series titled Athena Force which was to include stories by a number of different authors. Oddly, for a first book it does seem to land you in the middle of a larger story arc with references to characters and past events that seemingly had stories of their own. However, this is more interesting than annoying and for the most part the story stands well by itself. I felt the characters were well fleshed out and I liked them both. The only downfall I could really pinpoint being the non-ending as I do not believe anything more is planned for these particular characters in the series (although I guess I could be wrong about this).
Ultimately I did enjoy this story and would certainly recommend it to those who enjoy action, suspense and a little romance; I felt it akin to the Bourne Identity movie (not the book which was completely different). ( )
