Gould gives readers a taste of what both the missionary life and the vacationers life are like, including some of the sights, struggles, and resorts. It’s a place few of us will get to see in person.
From the opening pages, I was invested in Olivia and Eli’s lives as they are both planning for their respective futures. Then come Aga Kahn—a man who will stop at nothing to get Olivia out of Zanzibar because he sees her as a threat to his Muslim ways.
There are moments of suspense, but The Sahar of Zanzibar leans heavier on the romance side of romantic suspense. Whether you lean one way or the other, the quickly blooming relationship between Olivia and Eli as well as the unique setting makes this a book worth reading.
