Keine aktuelle Diskussion zu diesem Buch. *reviewed by uncorrected eARC via netgalley* teen/adult graphic novel (violence, death) - sci-fi/fantasy post-apocalyptic adventure Super gorgeous artwork and a fast-paced story that will keep you reading... Yes! Absolutely loved this. The writing (translation?) was perhaps clunky at times but since I was skimming this over on an e-reader, I just got the gist and quickly moved on to the next spread, so it wasn't a huge distraction/detraction. WHERE ALL IS LOST, HOPE IS FOUND. The year is 2084 and the world has changed. Wracked by calamities and crawling with monsters, the last remaining humans face a dangerous existence. And now, the Earth has been sent a message from the deepest reaches of space - a dark countdown to the extinction of all humanity. But there is hope! Five thousand children will be rescued by these mysterious message-senders. This is the journey of Hototo, one of the lucky five thousand - but only if his teenage sister, Tala, can safely deliver him to the nearest Extraction Beacon before time runs out. WE LIVE is a world of violence and beauty, a unique tale of the apocalypse as told by Inaki Miranda (Catwoman, Batman Beyond) and Roy Miranda, that invites both dread and hope. This one was dark but captivating. The world is dangerous and kids get hurt. A zombie virus is wreaking havoc in a post-apocalyptic world and select kids are hoarded as a beacon of hope since they will be transported to a new planet. It’s all fantasy but with the way mankind is set up I could see it happening. The premise also reminded me how during Hurricane Katrina they were taking kids to safety in boats to different shelters and whatnot, but some of those kids never saw their families again. Infinite sad vibes.
Anyway, everything is not explained well in this story. And the ending could be considered seriously jumping the shark. This doesn’t deserve a 4 from a technical standpoint, but I liked reading this. A particular scene where Tala, the older sister character, convinces her bro he's leaving to train as a superhero saddened me. The emotional implications of kiddies surviving in such a gory, scary world hit me hard.
