Lydia Sullyard is not insane. Truly she's not. To her horror, she's trapped inside Bedlam Hospital against her will. There's only one way for her to gain her freedom, but the consequences are unthinkable.Stratford Bexley agrees to visit Lydia in Bedlam. But the thought of stepping into London's cesspool makes him want to change his mind. And what it will take for her to be released would alter Stratford's life forever. Is Lydia's love strong enough to rescue Stratford from certain ruin, or will he save her life instead?… (mehr)

This was a very enjoyable book. It kept me up all night until I was finished with it. The story was a quick & easy read. I also discovered at the end that there are two more books with Lydia's two sister's stories. (Color of Deception & Color of Danger) I will definitely get my hands on them ASAP.
- This was another Early Reviewers Book ( )

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. It's kinda scary that this stuff actually use to happen. This is a well written and interesting storyline with some really great characters. It's a book that begs to be read in one sitting. I would have liked to read more about Lydia and Stratford, I think it would have been a sweet story. ( )

Bedlam Hospital, 1818. Proper Lydia Sullyard has been in this madhouse for three weeks. "I am NOT insane." From those four words I got hooked. I was only going to read a few chapters, but once started I didn't want to stop. Different storyline than the usual Regency romance books out there and the villain was really evil. Very enjoyable...

No Spoilers here:
Lydia's older sister, Kitty, was confined to bed in the last days of her pregnancy, with orders from the doctor to stay there and stay calm. Her husband, Nathaniel Bexley, was ordered to stay by her side. How does one keep calm when one's sister is in that horrid place?

Lydia and Kitty's younger sister , Patience, was a bit emotional and easily cried...there was good reason to shed tears now.

Stratford Bexley, Nataniel's cousin, was a bit of a rake, and Lydia had been in love with him since she first saw him. He is nice to her, but pays no special attention. He also has a secret that's been haunting him since his school days.

Lydia, a bit of an artist, found herself dragged from her home, clothes and shoes taken, left chained by the ankle to the floor in a filthy little cell, with only a small, moth-eaten blanket. And a pencil stub but no paper. Oh yes, there's her cellmate, a rat.

Who did this to her and why? Who hated her enough to put her in Bedlam? How much longer will it be before she goes insane for real?

Received this book free for an honest review. ( )
