Diese Rezension wurde für LibraryThing Early Reviewers geschrieben. Oh, the feels! This was such a fantastic follow up to In Search of a Prince, and I’m in love with Oloro Ilé! Iris is the quintessential BFF and she’s such a great sidekick for Queen Brielle. That being said, she obviously needed her own happily ever after, but I never thought it would come in the form of one of Brielle’s former contenders! The relationship that develops between Iris and Ekon is fraught with challenges but you can feel how genuinely they care for each other. I love the side story of Ekon coming to know Christ (or maybe that’s the real story here?) and getting to touch bases with the Royal Palace once more was fantastic, as well as Iris’s plans for launching her new business. I loved it from start to finish! I received an advanced copy of this book and was under no obligation to provide a positive review. Another delightful modern-day fairy tale from Toni Shiloh! Fashion designer Iris Blakely wants to help the people of Oloro Ilé—only to achieve her dream, she must work with Ekon Diallo. Having lost everything—excerpt his royal arrogance, perhaps—Ekon has a lot to learn. Together, they have several challenges to overcome, but their story becomes one of forgiveness, redemption, and second chances. After In Search of a Prince, where Iris and Ekon are both introduced, it was hard to imagine rooting for Ekon. Still, this new story makes that possible, surprisingly enough, and it proved to be absolutely lovely from beginning to end. I loved it, and I bet other readers of contemporary (royal) romance will, too. I received a complimentary copy of this book and the opportunity to provide an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review, and all the opinions I have expressed are my own. Having enjoyed In Search of a Prince, I was delighted to read this second book. I think the author does a great job of writing characters that you learn to care about! I really liked Iris as she possess a huge heart and has great compassion and empathy. Ekon is arrogant and entitled and yet even he grew on me as Iris’s good nature slowly wore off onto him. I love the way the author incorporates many spiritual themes and truths into the growth of the characters, the development of their relationship, and the formation of the plot. They truly are a central part of the story. I also liked the way the author did not shy away from writing about deep cultural and social issues. It made the plot seem more authentic and realistic. And the setting is something I wish I could visit! I really liked this book and look forward to more from this author. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

I felt a deep resonance between Ekon and Iris. They both are traveling in uncharted waters, Ekon being stripped of everything he has held dear up to this point in life, and Iris fighting to bring true change to Oloro Ilé while also adjusting to a new life and culture. It truly is an inspiration to see them not only find a deeper faith and inner strength within themselves, but to be on their prospective journey’s together.
Faith is a strong component of this story, as Iris is very strong in her beliefs, and I personally found that both admirable and inspiring, especially while reading Ekon’s inner dialogue about his doubts as his life takes on a drastic change.
I am not a fashionable person by any means (unless you agree that jeans and t-shirts are fashion) but the fashion component of this story had me positively enamored. I wish I could’ve seen pictures of the couture pieces and custom jewelry for the fashion show! Besides watching Ekon’s personal growth I would have to say the fashion details were at the top of my favorite things about this novel.
Toni Shiloh has knocked it out of the park with this adorable series and I hope there are more novels in the future! ( )
