Similar to Boulton but adds commentary and analysis of key texts and has much stronger historical emphasis as all sections include classic texts from Augustine, Aquinas and Luther as well as more modern pieces. It looks at methodology, politics, economics & justice, war & peace, environment, and human life & interpersonal relationships. Note there are now 4 different editions of this volume. The 2nd edn (1995) is quite different from the 1st but the changes after that are minimal. The 3rd (2006) has little change from 2nd edn (six new extracts, and reinstatement of one removed from 1st edn) and the 4th simply adds one more (all by women) to each of the sections.
