Fiction. Thriller. Newlyweds Tricia and Ethan are searching for the house of their dreams. But when they visit the remote manor that once belonged to Dr. Adrienne Hale, a renowned psychiatrist who vanished without a trace four years earlier, a violent winter storm traps them at the estate... with no chance of escape until the blizzard comes to an end. In search of a book to keep her entertained until the snow abates, Tricia happens upon a secret room. One that contains audio transcripts from every single patient Dr. Hale has ever interviewed. As Tricia listens to the cassette tapes, she learns about the terrifying chain of events leading up to Dr. Hale's mysterious disappearance. Tricia plays the tapes one by one, late into the night. With each one, another shocking piece of the puzzle falls into place, and Dr. Adrienne Hale's web of lies slowly unravels. And then Tricia reaches the final cassette. The one that reveals the entire horrifying truth.… (mehr)

All of the author’s books are similar so I wasn’t surprised by the ending. ( )

Wow ! I really thought I got the mystery figured out. In the beginning I was even disappointed because I thought I solved the mystery and saw the twist early on and then towards the end the author started unraveling the twists and that just blew my mind. I was not expecting that ! The surprising turn was a jaw-dropper and the characters were certainly more deranged than the characters in her Housemaid series. However, I was grieved for the one person who was a victim by circumstance; I would've wanted that person to survive but I won't spoil it for others. ( )

Wow! This book had me guessing and as soon as I thought I had it all figured out, Baam!!! another twist. I for sure thought that E.J. was Ethan and the he was the villain in this story. Never would have imagined that Trish was the real villain. ( )

While out house-hunting, newlyweds Tricia and Ethan wind up in an abandoned house in the middle of nowhere during a blizzard. They are stuck for the weekend. As it turns out, the house, once owned by a years-missing, presumed dead psychiatrist, has an eerie feeling to Tricia; as if someone is watching them. Tricia decides to read a book from the doctor's enormous collection, pulls The Shining off a shelf, hears a 'click', and watches the shelf move. Behind the shelf is a hidden room where Tricia learns the good doctor has kept a secret: she records every patient's visit.

Curious by nature, Tricia decides she will listen to just one tape, maybe two or three, but won't tell Ethan. As with the doctor, this is only one of many secrets Tricia keeps to herself. She will come to find out Ethan too, happens to be hiding a few things. As the layers of deceit peel back, the bodies crop up in Never Lie.

This is a fun, easy, super quick read. I will be on the lookout for more books by Freida McFadden. ( )
