I loved the setting of the Pet Play event. I knew there were pups, but never knew there were kittens and even horses. You learn something new every day. Asher almost blew his chance with Daddy Lee with his outrageous plan to get him back. Since he had already spent the money and brought all his belongings, he should have just gone and seen Lee and apologized and told him how much he wanted to be his "pup" again. Of course, that would have made an even shorter story. I laughed so much during Ash's attempt to train the pups. What a visuall that was!! The Command & Care series has been an entertaining and enjoyable venture into a world that few people outside of the Lifestyle even know exists. Good work Ms. Knight. ( ) Pretty Puppy is the sixth book in the ‘Command and Care’ series. The story stars Asher ‘Ash’ Griffin, a boy and a puppy, and Lee Petrovsky a Daddy/Master. This is told in third person from both Ash and Lee’s pov. The blurb does a good job of explaining what the plot is about, so I won’t go into it much. I’ve only read book one in this series and I don’t think you need to read the other books to read this one. I had no trouble following along with the story. If I compare this book to the first one, I’ll say that I like this one better. The story read smoother and the characters were more interesting even though I don’t know all that much about puppy play. Lee owns a successful luxury resort in Lake Tahoe. Ash moves from place to place breaking up with boyfriends. He’s never found anyone like Lee again, and so decides to concoct a plan to get back with him. As it mentions in the blurb, Ash crushed Lee’s heart when they broke up five years ago. What the blurb doesn’t say is, Ash was young, only eighteen, and rarely is anyone mature at that age. Ash wasn’t even of legal drinking age. Lee was angry at Ash. I’m not sure how the break-up went down, but Lee should’ve blamed himself putting so much expectation on a teenager. He expected Ash to want to settle down and stay committed to him when Ash hadn’t even seen what the world was like. I think Lee had unrealistic expectations and should blame himself for his broken heart. It was Ash who confessed he was wrong and spoke truth to Lee about why he returned, while Lee was angry. I think Lee should’ve been more open and apologized more than he did in the story. I don’t feel Lee expressed enough humbleness or sincerity in his apology to Ash, it was rather quick with only a few lines of speech. Ash was flighty, tended to think of schemes without thinking of the details or the consequences. He always loved Lee, but he had to live on his own and see the world for a while and compare other men to Lee to realize what Lee was like. Which I found logical. That’s part of growing up, learning about people and what a person can and cannot do. The fact that Lee resented it, tells me more about how Lee isn’t as smart as he thinks he is. Also, the fact that he didn’t want to let Ash go, is a tad possessive and worrisome. I would think a person would get concerned when an older male is trying to mold a teenager, yes a teenager, to his desires. Lee was the typical BDSM Daddy, controlling Ash’s life, but Ash liked it. Lee did love Ash though. Ash and Lee make up at about the fifty percent mark of the story. The rest of the story is about Lee and Ash getting to know each other again, having sex, and working at bringing the pet play event together. The author did a good job of creating characters I could believe in as a couple. Even though this was a short novella, there was enough information in it so as to complete the reunion between Ash and Lee and also show how they intended to live the rest of their lives. Even though I’m not into puppy play, I found this book entertaining and give Pretty Puppy, 4 Stars. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
