Lädt ... These Still Black Watersvon Christina McDonald
![]() Keine Keine aktuelle Diskussion zu diesem Buch. What secret have Neve and Bee been keeping since childhood? Why did Neve run away from her home and head to the house where she had always spend her summers? And… where was Bee when she arrived? She always was there when Neve arrived. Lots of secrets kept present and past. We bounce back-and-forth with the characters as we find out about their past and what’s happening in the present. There also is an unidentified narrator. THESE STILL BLACK WATERS is very mysterious, and the characters are pretty much on the odd side. The book includes some paranormal and has a wild ending. It is a little confusing, but don’t give up. If you like not knowing who did what and when they did it, this book is for you. 4/5 Thank you to the publisher for an advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own. This was such a good read! Perfect for fall, creepiness and October! I loved the character of Detective Jess and cannot wait for more cases with her. Three summer friends from years ago have all held a secret and now they are being targeted by a killer. Who else could know what had happened that night and why are they years later taking a revenge? Such a fast paced read and there was just so much to this story line and the depth these characters have. There were so many good lines, my highlighter was running out! Thank you to the author and Netgalley for the free ebook and @thrillerbookloverspromotions for the tour invite. This review is of my own opinion and accord. Part thriller, part paranormal mystery. This book is not at all what I expected, but so much more. Love this author for her storyline twists and this one did not disappoint. Story told in 3 voices (Neve, Jess and the killer) which adds to the suspense. A little slow moving in some parts but the last 25% takes off. I love when I can pick up a book and it’s over before I know it. First in a series and I’m already looking forward to Book 2 and more of Jess’ story. This books gives you a lot to think about. Two women with secrets, guilt and nothing but love for their children. While I enjoyed Neve’s story, Jess was so easy to connect with. The ending was emotional.
If the author's name didn’t already sell me on the book, the eerily beautiful cover would. I’m a sucker for a great cover and this one isn’t disappoint. The beauty that is seen on the outside isn’t the same as the pain hiding underneath.
Thanks to Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for this ARC. This is my honest opinion. (
