Fiction. Romance. Suspense. HTML:

Money is my mistress.

Solving problems, my trade.

Until the tables turn, and trouble finds me.

Now on the run, I need a plan.

But not before I'm blindsided by a pain-in-the-ass stranger.

Maggie.

Curves, startling blue eyes, and she hates me.

I don't trust her, and with good reason.

My plan is simple: use her.

Then I kiss her. Touch her. Crave her.

She was my way out; now she's my downfall.

Nick Prophet does business for some shady people and one incident leads to meeting Maggie. They despise each other let alone trust each other. Maggie has secrets and Nick is on the run trying to save both their lives. As they are on the run it seems like Maggie has been through some trauma before, so she is skittish yet tough. She is hiding some things, and this makes Nick trust her even less. When Nick finds out what he needs to get out of this predicament he is in, will he be able to go through it or will he suddenly grow a conscientious? The back-and-forth heat and anger between the two main characters is tangible and steamy. At times I found both Nick and Maggie could be annoying with their trust issues and anger but understood where they were coming from when we get their history. Their constant hate/tolerate you was frustrating at times, but the action throughout kept me intrigued. At times it felt like Maggie had more of a connection with Kit than Nick and I know it was because Kit was more understandable, but it seemed like they were close to crossing some lines which bothered me some seeing as the next book is Kit’s and it’s a second chance romance with Nick’s sister. In the end the action kept me glued, I understood Maggie to an extent, but it seemed she just kept stringing Nick along and after all he’s endured I felt he deserved better. ( )

Five Star Listen

This story was excitement from the very beginning. Enemies to lovers with plenty of intrigue and suspense. For me, although there was a kidnapping and a lot of bad guys I did not find to be too dark. Jason Clarke with his growly voice was just perfect as Nick who is part criminal, part softy, mostly sexy. Savannah Peachwood has such a sweet voice and did a great job as Maggie who is both an auto mechanic and a beautiful, confident, tough woman.

This is one of those books that I was sad when it was over. I was really enjoying it and wanted more. That is not to say the story wasn't complete. I just really wanted to live in that world a little more.
