This book is about having the courage of following your heart no matter the odds, the obstacles, or what everybody else think you should be doing. The beginning and the end of the book were 5 stars. Gripping, filled with tension, and quick paced. The middle part was a little bit dull, 2 starish, it felt as if I wasn’t reading about anything in particular, which is upsetting, and it was also slow. Plus, the story of the father was a bit over the top of depressing for me. So the mean would be 3.5 stars that I am rounding up to four. The story is predictable, but nonetheless enjoyable. A lighthearted fun read. This is no life-changing, informative book but it is a lighthearted, fun read, perfect for the beach. It made me laugh, I even shed a few tears! I read it when I was bogged down in the middle of a book group read and it certainly provided some light relief. Lucy is on the way to Australia for her best friend's wedding. They haven't seen each other for 10 years and everything is euphoric - until a message comes through on her mobile that her boyfriend is cheating on her. Great timing! Great descriptions of trauma. She arrives in Australia and puts this all behind her thanks to some fast talking by the boy friend. But niggling doubts remain, complicated by the arrival on the scene of a rather dashing surfer. And so the scene is set. All that remains to be seen is who she will end up with. But it's fun, even for such a simple story line and I would certainly give this author another go. I very rarely read chick-lit books as I have not had much luck with enjoying them but I have to say that I couldn't put this one down. It was very addictive, charming and romantic. I will definately be reading more of her books. Back Cover Blurb: It's been nine years since Lucy left Australia. From the bestselling author of The Longest Holiday comes a heart-warming novel about a woman contemplating her life: Is the grass really greener on the other side of the world? Settling down for a twenty-four-hour flight to Australia, Lucy finds a text message on her phone--not from her boyfriend James, as she fondly hopes, but from a woman claiming to have slept with him four times in the past month. Trapped on the plane, she questions everything about her relationship with James. She finally calls him and he reassures her: it was only his mates playing a silly joke. James is a lawyer, persuasive and gorgeous, and Lucy adores him. So why, at her best friend's wedding, does she have niggling doubts, and find herself attracted to the bride's brother-in-law Nathan? The sooner she gets back to her regular life in London, the flat she shares with James, her job in PR, the better. Nathan is just a happy-go-lucky surfer boy, with no prospects, no place to live, an almost-girlfriend in tow. Suddenly Lucy finds herself caught between two distant continents and two very different men... Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |

She shouldn't be sleeping with her boyfriend while having an emotional affair with another man, that makes her no better than James. One of the only reasons that I kept reading was to find out if James was telling her the truth or not.
There was a lot of language in this book and a couple of brief open door scenes.
This was definitely not my kind of book. ( )
