If I had read the book as a paperback or seen it as a two page layout, as it's meant to be read, the story might have flowed better. But since the ARC I got showed it as a standard PDF that's how I'll review it.
There are loads of illustrations. A fair bit of them (especially certain facial expressions of the king and queen) are the same throughout the story. For a child that might be good, for the repetition, but it's obvious that those scenes are copied and pasted from one illustration to another.
Also, as I mentioned above, because of the single page viewing it was a little hard to follow the story, since sometimes I would see a picture depicting a scene that was on the page following it. I assume in paperback form these match up. However, how it's formatted (and would be read in Kindle, the text should probably come before the illustration).
The writing was fine, neither bad nor great.
However, at the end of the story, when the baby is sent to "Earth school" the rules of the different world need to be explained more. Why/how does it take 2 years to get from the Star Lights kingdom down to Earth? And did the Earth mother birth the child? Because that's what the words and illustrations depict.
Also, the title of the story suggests that the story will show (at least one scene) of the child actually at school/Earth school. So, I was a little disappointed when the story ended when the child arrived on Earth/at the Earth school. Would have liked at least a little of her experience on Earth. ( )
