Scarlett “Sunny” Swizzle runs a secret confessions website & is a mystery writer who’s hit a slump. When she has the opportunity to travel to Concordia to write about paranormal activity, she jumps at the chance. She’s been there before several years ago & shared an earth shattering kiss with a guy named Burton when she was stuck on a train with him for 24 hours. But afterwards,he ghosted her. Wanting to rekindle their brief romance, she emails him only to have him tell her meeting her is impossible. When Scarlett rides the train where she first met him, she realizes why he ghosted her. He’s a ghost!
Burton’s all but forgotten & slowly disappearing. But, with Scarlett’s return, he begins to feel himself again & the two work together to reverse the effects of the love potion that turned him into a ghost.
Told from both Scarlett’s & Burton’s POVs, this enjoyable romance was just the quick, sweet read I needed. It’s perfect for those who like fun, spooky reads. It reminded me of a Scooby Doo episode with the humor & shenanigans, and a touch of romance. It also had nods to the Casper movies which was fun. I loved that she called him her “Boo.” There’s also a fun cat named Po who has a mysterious past & always seemed to show up at the most inopportune moments.
All in all a sweet, funny, paranormal, closed door romcom perfect for the spooky season. Though it’s part of a series & has references to the author’s other books, it’s definitely meant to be enjoyed as a standalone. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author.
