I loved it! Once I started I couldn’t put it down!

I enjoyed this story.

I really wanted to like this book, however, it read like a young adult book. The characters who were supposed to be in their twenties really acted much younger. I felt like I was reading about high schoolers. The book was a little slow, in my opinion. I didn't know this was part of a series, but I wouldn't have read the first one anyway after reading this one. The female character, Joanna, acted like a spoiled brat and I found myself disliking her the more I read. I found that towards the end of the book, it started to get a little more interesting, but it wasn't enough. This book just wasn't for me and I am a fan of fantasy. ( )

Immortal Secrets by Sydney Ashcroft and Dani Nichols is the second paranormal romance adventure about the Immortals Akantha and Damianos. It is not necessary to have read the first book to enjoy this one. The authors give enough background on the characters that you can figure out what is going on. This book centers as much on Joanna Shepard and her brothers and friends as it does the two immortal characters. Joanna is 23 and has gone home to her small Maine town to deal with her deceased parents’ belongings with her two brothers. Helping them is Alex Thorne, a long time family friend who has stepped in to be the guardian to Joanna’s youngest brother. When danger begins to surround them, they discover Alex’s secret identity as Akantha. Joanna has to accept the existence of supernatural forces and that her life will never be the same.

I enjoyed this new take on the paranormal and supernatural and immortality. The book started out fairly slowly but then became more of an adventure. Other reviewers have commented that the younger characters seemed very immature and I agree. It was hard to sympathise and connect with Joanna when I disapproved of her behaviour and choices. I would have liked to have had more of the book focused on the immortal characters. I also found the choices that Damianos made were illogical and made it harder for me to suspend disbelief and just enjoy the story. Some sexual content, but not excessive. ( )
