It is said that his mother was pregnant with him for 81 years, so that when he was born he was already a wise old man. Lao Tzu means “old wise one” and he was said to be “the Spirit of the Highest Venerable Lord of Eternal Tao, who could harness the clouds’ energies, walk on the essence of the sun, and fly with the stars” (4). He is a wise, magical man who is heroic in his endeavors to promote reflection and peace. The Legend of Lao Tzu and the Tao Te Ching is unlike any Legend I have ever read before. This book was filled with beautiful illustrations, each inside of a single circle which made each picture stand out. The story is a biography of the mysterious philosopher who is thought to have been born walking with gray hair at the age of eighty -one. Lao Tzu has words full of wisdom, that are shared from a book he had written and given to the Tao Te Ching to Yin Hsi to help humanity live according to the Way of Heaven. I enjoyed reading each excerpt and it gave me a sense of peace and comfort while reading it. I believe that one has to be very open-minded to read and understand this story, but I enjoyed each page and found it very different and more challenging than any other book I have picked to read. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

An excellent introduction to an oft-overlooked, underappreciated, and misunderstood philosophy/practice/way of life. Wonderful! ( )
