Sarah works on chores all day long, she imagines having a brand new dress to replace her snug dress she currently wears. It isn't until her dress rips that she finally receives a newly made dress. This is a book is a good introduction to young children about life in the early 1700's. ( ) As I was reading this book, I felt some inspiration and was in awe. I have taken history classes that taught me about life in colonial times, but I think this book has taught me the most. This book taught me, as a reader, what jobs the men and women did to keep up their farm and how had they worked for everything. particularly, I liked the illustrations, as the amount of details and colors used are exactly how I would imagine like during this time. Also, I likes the poems in the book. They rhymed, which kept me very engaged, reading the book as if it were a song. I have found that, like myself, many others pick up on things faster when there is rhyme or a song involved. Children pick up on music quickly, and I think they would be able to learn a lot from a book like this because that is how it felt while reading. I was able to connect to this book on a personal level, since when I was a young girl, I was expected to do my chores and family always came first, which has not changed. In this book, we learn about Sarah whose family is poor and her chores are harder than most people her age in our time. They live dangerously and have to make everything from food to clothing themselves. It is fun and exciting to eventually see some good happen to Sarah towards the end of the book. It will make you feel that not only has she won, but you as well. (These Verla Kay books were for last week, I just forgot to post them.) Sarah and her family live in the 1700's. Sarah wakes up every day with her family and they all have chores to fulfil. Sarah and her family bundle wood, fetch water and shed the sheep for their wool. Sarah has grown to big for her dress so her mother have to spin tread to make her a new one. The threads are made of reds and blues. When Sarah get the new dress her mother has made for her she can't help to spin around and dance in it. This rhyming picture book is about a girl living in Pennsylvania during the early 1700s. It describes her daily life of chores, as well as the routines of each family member. After much work and anticipation, and several weeks of wearing clothes that are too tight, the homespun thread if finally made into new clothes for Sarah. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
