Story about a bunny who makes up a story about being in the jungle during summer. The bunny is insecure because she/he did not go anywhere in the summer. The bunny is caught lying and learns a lesson. Recommended for ages K-3. ( )

The illustrations are again beautiful. The greens and blues in this volume are gorgeous. The story is imperfect and kind of lame - Lisa didn't have an exciting vacation, so she makes up a lie about spending time with her uncle in the jungle. Later on she conspires to take pictures of wild animals in the zoo in order to further fool her schoolmates about how she spent her vaction. I think children (and some adults, ha ha) naturally lie to make their lives seem more exciting, so I don't think it's too weird. (Lisa has a wonderful imagination!) It's just that there's no comeuppence or consequences for her lies. I guess it is kind of cute - the glee she takes in fooling them. Not every story has to have a moral, I guess. ( )
