Welch shares about life before and after becoming a Christian. He is definitely not a writer by trade, so the writing is nothing special but very straightforward, conversational. There obviously were a lot of awful, sad things going on in his life, but he includes a fair amount of humor in the book, too.

It was encouraging to read about the various things God did to get his attention, and the people whom God used. It's always interesting to me to see how non-Christians and new Christians view God and the Church.

It was disappointing that he saw the need to use profanity, especially because at one point he talks about asking God to help him "cuss less." It would have been easy enough to remove the profanity in editing.

I don't agree with all of his specific beliefs (for example, he believes speaking in tongues is a mumbo-jumbo "spiritual" language), but I appreciate that he wasn't dogmatic about these things and clearly desires unity among God's people. ( )

Full disclaimer: I have a bias. I am a metal-head and I have an affinity for Nu Metal music. I am a huge Korn fan and I jell with all the members, Jonathan, James, Reginald, Ray, and Brain "Head" Welch, the author of, SAVE ME FROM MYSELF. His split from Korn was both disappointing and understandable after reading his autobiography. It was written in a early place of his Christian walk, so it is both honest and brutally raw at times. While he has walked back some of the things he's written in the book since re-joining Korn in 2013, I empathize and understand where he was emotionally during the book's release in 2008. Bravo brother. ( )

An honest reflection of Welch's journey from addiction and disbelief to freedom and faith. I enjoyed his honesty both at his wounds and failure but also he's not church broken and breaks down his misunderstanding and steps into faith.

This was an exceptional book. As a lover of heavy metal, I was excited when this book came out. Only problem, I bought it, had it on my kindle forever, just never got to reading it. Why? I have no clue. But once I picked it up, I had it read in 1 day. I couldn't get enough of what Welch had to say. We hear of the wild life that most rock stars live, but not too often do we actually get to hear of how it all turned out. Brian Welch gives us that glimpse into how he struggles with drugs, alcohol, family and God.

For us adoring fans, it was a shock to hear that he just left the band, KoRn. Then there were these rumors that he had went crazy and got on some wacky religious kick. Eventually he came out and told people what was going on. But it was "Save Me from Myself," that was the heartbreaking story that opened our eyes to the hell he was living.

In my opinion, it took a lot for Welch to walk away from millions of dollars and a famous hard rock heavy metal band. Many thought it would be a phase and he would return. He proved the naysayers wrong and hung tight to his convictions.

For many, this book will turn them off just by all the talk of religion. For those who believe in the path that he is following, they will understand. You can't condem the man for changing his life. Granted he left a great band that produced some kick ass music. But he also had to do what was right for him. He knew he had issues with drugs. He also had a little girl that watched her mom leave and become an addict. Now her dad was doing the same thing. For Welch, his daughter was the most important thing. You can't look down on a man for wanting to be a father first.

I was a KoRn fan from the first day I heard their music. I have also followed Welch's crusade as a fellow Christian and applaud him for his work of staying clean and sober and a follower of Christ. Now the everything has come full circle for Welch. He has his own band Love and Death. To complete the cicle, he has rejoined KoRn and they have released a new album and touring.
