Emma Chichester Clark's "Up In Heaven" showed a different view of a death of a pet. Most books tell the story of the life of the pet and eventually the pet dies, this book had a different approach. The dog was getting old in the beginning and abruptly went to Heaven so there wasn't much time to get sad. The dog was having a wonderful time in Heaven, and didn't want to see the boy sad. The author wants to paint this picture for kids that it is a good thing to go to Heaven, it is a very happy place. "Up In Heaven" would be great for any students that lose a pet and need comforting to know that their pet is in a better and happy place and that it is okay to get a new pet. ( )

This book Up in Heaven had tears rolling down my face for about 20 minutes. This is because I have two dogs myself and one of them is getting old and I don't want to even think about him not being with me anymore. He is my best friend and it is going to suck when it's his time to go to heaven, like Daisy in the story. This book is about a young boy named Arthur who wakes up and his beloved dog is in heaven but heaven is a wonderful place where Daisy isn't sick or unable to keep up with her friends. This is a sad book but it also shows how we shouldn't be sad because they truly are in a better place. So Daisy is watching Arthur from above and sees that his is so upset about her passing away she decides to send him dreams that she's doing great up there and that it's alright to get a new puppy and move on. Arthur listens and he's happy again and he knows Daisy is watching from heaven. Even though I started crying right off the bat when the dog passed away, I felt better at the end. Daisy wasn't in pain anymore, she wasn't feeling sick anymore, she was happy in heaven and we need to understand that. I truly believe children will love this book. The illustrations are adorable and makes you smile. ( )

This book brought tears to my eyes. Little Arthur's beloved dog Daisy is old and one morning she wakes up to find she is in heaven. Arthur is so sad. Daisy is watching him from heaven and doesn't want him to be sad, so she sends him dreams. This is a great book for children. ( )

Up in Heaven is cheerfully illustrated and comforting for children dealing with the loss of a beloved pet. When Arthur's dog Daisy passes away of old age, she comes to him in dreams demonstrating her idyllic new surroundings. From Heaven, Daisy urges Arthur to get a new puppy. ( )

Arthur's dog Daisy dies and goes to heaven. Heaven is shown to be a wonderful place for dogs. Daisy wants Arthur to be happy again, so she shows him heaven through his dreams. When Arthur is still sad, Daisy shows him a puppy and how much fun they can be. This helps Arthur to heal and welcome a new puppy into the family. ( )
