I don’t recall disliking it as I do the audiobook. Possibly it is the amount of swearing, which I find grates more when listening as opposed to reading. Possibly it has to do with the nature of the characters, none of whom I can care about. Possibly it is the slow, deliberate pace of narration which gives more time to be aware of the flaws of plot and dialogue. There's a Hero with a Thousand Faces approach with two calls to action, the first refused. Later, Roberta's capture echoes the capture of Han Solo, and Hope's reaction echoes Luke's two rescue attempts, walking openly into Jabba's lair and also the confrontation with Vader at Cloud City where he gets offered a job.
