This series contains information of use to those who produce and use food additives and veterinary drugs, and those involved with controlling contaminants, government and food regulatory officers, industrial testing laboratories, universities. The monographs in this volume summarise data on the safety of a number of food additives, including the flavouring agent furfal, the food colour cochineal extract and carmines, the sweetening agent D-tagatose, and the miscellaneous substance trehalose. Monographs on four groups of related flavouring agents are also included. Another section summarises the toxicological and intake data on two contaminants in food (tin and cadmium), and the intake data available on one food additive, caramel colour II.
