Lädt ... DREARY & NAUGHTY Friday the 13th (Dreary and Naughty)von John LaFleur
![]() Keine Keine aktuelle Diskussion zu diesem Buch. I had not read any of the Dreary and Naughty series but the ebook on netgalley grabbed my attention with it adorable, ghastly characters and the idea of Friday the 13th being a theme with the cover. Written as a poem and embedded with pictures this book as so fun. The characters are a demon and a skeleton who are friends and trying to celebrate Valentine's Day. The idea is fun and the poem is very cute even with the macabre characters and their moodiness. It was a pleasure to read, sadly it was very short. My only real issue with it was that I wanted to learn more about their story and was a little confused by the ending. Maybe I need to read the rest to understand. I would love to add this to my collection for its unique portrayal of otherworldly characters and their friendship and love. I had not read the first books in this series, nor actually any book like it. It's a story told both in drawings and a long poem. This poem does not only tells us a story, but is also witty or cute at times. It took me a little time to get adjusted to the style, causing me to re-read the start, and that really helped me to understand and enjoy this story. I was particularly taken by the fact it doesn't want to be a crowded big story, instead it just a very sweet tale of how the quality of some good friends is so much more valuable than the quantity of blanc adoration Naughty receives at Valentines Day. One little problem I had with the book, perhaps this is just me because I'm not used to reading poetry (but really, this is no pretentious poetry), but the rhyming scheme seemed of a bit sometimes. As I couldn't stop myself from saying it out loud (in my head) and the rhythm seemed off a bit on a few occasions. (I also couldn't stop myself from thinking about Miffy whilst reading; I know that isn't a Gothic style story, but it also has one page drawing/one page text and the same rhyming scheme =) ) Overall a very enjoyable and fast read. A very nice surprise for me to read! They are celebrating Valentine's Day, at Whispering Hills High, on Friday, February 13th. The excitement is building, as cards are being exchanged and Dreary and his pal Naughty are swept up into as well, even though Dreary is a skeleton and Naughty is a girlish demon. Naughty, being cute and popular, is, of course receiving loads of Valentine's Day cards, while Dreary is striking out. This delightful and fanciful illustrated novel, is a joy to read and anyone that is a fan of Tim Burton's animated work, will certainly enjoy this one. In this sophomore tale of our otherworldly duo, Dreary and Naughty get off to an unlucky start on Valentine's Day weekend. All the boys of Whispering Hills High have a crush on Naughty, which drives a wedge between them (while Dreary is, well, dead to all the girls). Can their feelings for each other survive under the trials and tribulations of the dreaded Valentine's Day exchange? Taking us all back to the days when not everyone was remembered on the cardstock holiday, Friday the 13th of February is the perfect message about what's truly important in love and friendship.
