This is the best of the three books about Glenfield High kids. The main character is Fraser ( called Fizzer) who has the uncanny ability to dull his other 4 senses so that the remaining one is super tuned. When he does this withy his sense of taste, Fizzer can tell coke from pepsi from diet coke from coke in a bottle or a can. While he and his beefy Maori buddy Tupai are running a "try and trick Fizzer and win $100" stand at the local fair, they discover that one of the local Coke factories is malfunctioning and producing cans with the wrong level of sugar. This information serves the Coke company very well when the 3 people who know the secret formula to Coke are kidnapped. Fizzer and Tupai are flown to Atlanta to try and come up with the recipe in 8 weeks before the remaining stocks of coke run out! Meanwhile, the 3 presidents are stuck on an island in the middle of nowhere, and forced to give the recipe to their kidnappers.
The fact that Falkner has researched a lot of the truth and myths surrounding Coke, and uses it is his novel add a great deal of weight to the story. (p.26 "On first appearances..." to p.28 "...a little walk". Harry takes them to the production line and confronts Kelly a technician.p.29 "This young lad thinks..." to the end of the chapter.
