Setting: Washington, DC is the hub of where political things happened during the early 1900’s. There were debates, protests and demonstrations during this time when women were fight for their right to vote.
Review: This is a good example of realistic fiction because Emily could be any girl during this time early 1900’s who saw her mom, sister, grandmother, aunt; attend meeting so they could have the right to vote. Emily is a precocious girl because of how she gets in between her Aunt Ada and a man who is pulling her sash off in protest of her involvement in wanting women to have the right to vote, most kids would think of getting the middle of two adults but not actually doing it. However, the book has many accurate/informative details during this time that make it seem real the reader.
